Workshop Manager
Simon’s requires a driven, proactive, team orientated, skilled and experienced Joinery Workshop Manager, with a positive can-do attitude, to join our joinery production team. We are a local manufacturer of traditional kitchens, bedrooms, and furniture based in Colchester, Essex.
Job Summary
The role will include, driving the daily / weekly / monthly production schedule, with the ability to prioritise workloads, driving the team forward and meeting deadlines. This is a hands-on role that requires man-management skills with an expectation that the successful candidate will contribute to all aspects of the workshop, inclusive of production, joinery, assembly, wrap & pack etc.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication capabilities and the ability to manage varying skill levels and skill sets.
Other key aspects of the role are to increase productivity, improve efficiency, and be the leading point of contact.
The ability to be flexible with overtime to ensure project completion and success is also a key attribute.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of the workshop and be the main point of contact.
- Responsible for managing and issuing the production orders and QA documentation to the team.
- Overall responsibility for the Quality process, ensuring quality is checked and assured through all work areas.
- Responsible for the overall workshop Health & Safety.
- Overall responsibility for the workshop maintenance programs including scheduled, preventative and TPM.
- Responsible for ensuring the FSC process and chain of custody is adhered to within the workshop.
- Overall responsibility for ensuring the workshop training program, TBT’s and SWP’s are worked towards and adhered to.
- Responsible for managing all workshop staff HR issues, holiday requests and appraisals, in conjunction with the Group Operations Director.
- Oversee the safe usage of all fixed plant and machinery, power, and hand tools, and to include all adequate PPE compliance.
Working hours are Monday - Friday, 7.30am-5.30pm. Overtime is available at an increased rate during busy periods.
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: Negotiable depending on skill level and experience.
Holidays: Standard 28 days included
